Here at Sketch we understand the importance of beautiful and relevant photography in design. Whether it’s profile pictures for an app mockup or interior shots for a booking website results page, images are key elements in most of our designs, and especially when it comes to presentation or signoff.
Last month we announced Sketch 52, which included a new, built-in, plugin, that harnesses Sketch’s powerful new Data feature and combines it with Unsplash’s incredible photography.
We worked with Unsplash to build an awesome plugin that lets you add stunning images from their expansive, copyright-free image library, right inside Sketch. And, if you need something more specific, you can even add keywords to generate more relevant photos.
The Unsplash Sketch plugin in actionWe were really excited about this project because it makes it easier than ever to add beautiful and purposeful photography to your designs and we know that’s important for designers.
With that in mind, we’re excited to announce that Sketch is supporting this year’s Unsplash Awards, an annual celebration that recognizes the generous photography community on Unsplash.
In case you don’t already know, Unsplash is a website dedicated to sharing copyright-free photography under the Unsplash License. Over 125,000 photographers continue to contribute their work on Unsplash, helping to build a library of more than 750,000 photos downloaded more than 50 million times per month.
The Unsplash Awards are a great opportunity for Unsplash’s dedicated contributors to share their photographs with the community, get their pictures in front of industry leading judges, and featured on the Unsplash website.
There are 12 categories for entering your photographs:
- Diversity
- Entrepreneur
- Experimental
- Food & Drink
- Interiors & Architecture
- People & Relationships

Sketch Co-founder Emanuel Sá will be judging the Shapes and Textures category of the Awards and he should know what he’s talking about — when he’s not designing icons and interfaces, Emanuel’s taking his own pictures with his trusty Leica.
If you’re a pro photographer, hobbyist, or just an all round creative type, and you want your images to be considered for the Unsplash Awards you need to submit photos by December 7th over on awards.unsplash.com.
